Cash-strapped consumers looking for cheap insurance
To some, re-evaluating budgets means shopping around for new auto insurance
Many American households are changing their ways – clipping coupons, taking “staycations” and even dining out less frequently.
According to an article in the Hartford Courant, record numbers are also shopping around for better deals on auto insurance quotes.
“People are shopping around now more than they have in years past – everybody wants to save money,” said one insurance agent quoted in the article. The Courant also reported that agents have been receiving calls from Connecticut consumers that are seeing an increase in premiums that they are unwilling – or unable – to pay.
The article suggests that premiums will jump the most this year than in that last six years – prompting many consumers with a budget to shop around for a new policy.
Meanwhile, less than stellar April 2009 sales figures reported by the American International Automobile Dealers Association AIADA) does not mean that consumers won’t be looking for a new car and an accompanying auto insurance plan in the near future.
Many automakers and dealers believe that sales have hit the bottom and are hoping for an uptick in business from the steady levels experienced thus far in 2009, said the AIADA.
