Advanced Auto Parts is offering simple but very timely advice to car owners - be careful on the road this summer and keep vehicles tuned-up.
The auto repair giant advocates consumers doing their own checks on cars at home before hitting the road. Looking under the hood at fluid levels, checking headlight functionality, and ensuring air conditioners are working could help make for a more comfortable trip.
But the company also reminds consumers that regular oil changes, checks on hoses for swelling and cracking, and testing the battery could keep drivers and passengers safe on the road.
"With the summer season, come the extremes of heat combined with stop and go traffic and longer trips. Just as you would apply sunscreen at the beach, you should also make sure your vehicle is prepared for the conditions that you will be traveling in," said Bryan Gregory, director of consumer education for Advance Auto Parts.
Operating safe vehicles could help reduce the number of traffic accidents and ultimately save insurance companies and consumers time spent filing claims and money on repairs.
