Graduation is right around the corner for many of the nation's colleges and seniors likely have a lot on their plate - from finding a job to finding an apartment.
Given tough market conditions, it is unsurprising that fewer graduating seniors have working plans finalized than in the past. The National Association of Colleges and Employers' 2009 Student Survey shows that 19.7 percent of graduates have already locked in a job. This number was recorded at 26 percent one year ago and 51 percent in 2007.
For those that do have a job, the first day of work is likely to include a review of the company's health insurance plan and will require new employees to make decisions between HMOs, PPOs and other services.
But that isn't the only insurance plan they'll have to review. For many young adults, this will be their first foray into the world of real estate. Friends looking to live in an apartment together should begin looking at renters insurance.
Some new graduates that may not have a job yet will probably put off renters insurance for now, instead opting to move back in with mom and dad to save a few bucks.
