People who are shopping for home insurance can be assured that whatever company they settle on, chances are it will provide them with the right coverage.
A recent study from Consumer Reports finds that 73 percent of consumers consider themselves highly satisfied with their current insurance company, compared to a 77 percent satisfaction rate in 2003.
The study also found that among consumers who had filed claims with their insurance companies, 84 percent said they were satisfied with the amount they received, while 11 percent said they had received too little and 5 percent said that their claims had been rejected.
Also in the survey, about 20 percent said that they had been with their current insurers less than four years and that they had primarily switched carriers in order to get lower prices.
Regardless of which company a consumer ends up choosing, the importance of securing good home insurance is higher than ever when considering the rising cost of home repairs and building materials, as well as the increase nationwide in severe weather incidents, from storms and floods to wildfires.
