A significant number of Americans are likely to engage in risky driving behaviors, illustrating the importance of keeping a good car insurance policy.

A survey from TomTom focused on seven different cities and their “driving personalities,” focusing on how they react to situations like missing an exit, how they react to being tailgated and cutoff, and how long they wait to refill their gas tanks.

The company found Los Angeles and Houston residents to be among the “diligent drivers,” while Chicago and New York were home to “neutral navigators” and Atlanta, Boston and Minneapolis came in as “courageous commuters.”

Some statistics found that 61.3 percent of Americans admitting to driving as much as 10 miles over the speed limit, while 10.7 percent said that they curse or gesture crudely when cut off in traffic.
The results also found that 21.6 percent of drivers say they slam on their brakes while being tailgated and 34.5 percent admitted to singing and dancing in the car.

By engaging in unsafe driving behavior, consumers put themselves at greater risk of being in an accident and paying higher auto insurance rates.
