Auto insurance customers should know their policies
For many auto insurance customers, it's not enough to simply find an affordable policy. People are also advised to know exactly what and what is not covered.
For many auto insurance customers, it's not enough to simply find an affordable policy. People are also advised to know exactly what and what is not covered.
For example, a survey recently released by a major auto insurance company finds that many drivers are confused about various details of their coverage. The results found that only 34 percent of drivers had actually read through their policy, and only 23 percent knew what their deductible limits were.
In other examples, 64 percent said they believed their auto policies covered items that may be lost or stolen from their car, when in reality, such things are covered under renters or homeowners insurance. Another 60 percent were unaware that frame damage from a pothole is covered under collision insurance instead of comprehensive.
At the same time, 65 percent of those surveyed reported that they had filed a claim with their insurer in the past.
No matter which company a consumer chooses to buy auto insurance from, reading the policy carefully before making any decisions always makes good sense.
