'Cool' cars available for under $18k
Auto insurance quotes may vary for this hip set of vehicles
Kelly Blue Book, a trusted name in providing information on new and used cars, has named its top picks for cool, new affordable cars.
The cars on the 2009 Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000 list are described as more "fun" and "more amenity-laden than ever before."
Options available on the new cars range from voice-controlled iPod integration to push-button start to hard-drive music storage.
"Although inflation might suggest otherwise, each year, it seems we have a larger and cooler crop of new vehicles to choose from for our Coolest Under $18,000 list, and this year is no exception; the auto manufacturers have made the low-priced segments the most personality-filled in the industry," said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director for Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com.
But does a cool car translate into a safe car? If it does, new drivers may find themselves with more affordable auto insurance quotes.
Cars that include safety features like anti-lock brakes or a good structural design are likely to better protect drivers and passengers in the event of a crash. Other features like daytime running lights may help prevent an accident. Features like this are typically viewed favorably when seeking an auto insurance quote.
